ELECTION NOTIFICATION for the Year-2008 onwards :

The Election Commission of the Indian Psychiatric Society invites NOMINATIONS from the ELIGIBLE FELLOWS of the IPS to the following posts:

1. Vice President cum President Elect- ONE POST

2. Honorary General Secretary- ONE POST (2008-2010)

3. Honorary Treasurer- ONE POST (2008-2010)

4. Honorary Editor-ONE POST (2008-2010)

5. Direct Council Members-THREE POSTS (2008-2011)

ELIGIBILTY:

Any Fellow of the Society may be nominated for the Election of any of the posts other than the posts of VICE PRESIDENT cum PRESIDENT ELECT and the HONORARY GENERAL SECRETARY if his nomination is proposed and seconded by a Fellow provided the Fellow has expressed his/her consent in writing to be nominated for the said post.

The person nominated for the post of Vice President cum President Elect must be a Fellow of the Society for at least 10 years.

The person nominated for the post Honorary General Secretary must be Fellow for at least 5 years and must have served at least one term as a member of the Council.

The nomination papers shall contain the signatures of Fellows who have paid their annual subscription for the current year before filing nominations.

The nominees may send a brief biodata (not exceeding 10 lines) along with photo and their nominations.

The nominations should be sent in a sealed envelope, on which the word NOMINATION shall be mentioned, to the Chief Election Officer:

Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations:	20 th October, 2007
Date of IN PERSON VOTING (SPOT):	4th January, 2008 at the Venue of the ANCIPS-2008.
Last Date for Receiving the POSTAL VOTES:	21 st December, 2007

**Those who cast votes IN PERSON should bring the PHOTO IDENTITY CARD (Photocopy/Xerox of Driving License, Passport, Election Identity, or PAN CARD).

** No Canvassing shall be permitted after the Election Notification. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the contestant.

NOTE : As a consequence of the Tribunal Verdict and a case being pending in the Honorable High Court Chennai, the Election for some of these is subject to Court Directive before the final Election Process will be over by January, 2008 at the time of ANCIPS-2008.
